The bio on the evil sword, Soul Edge. Why did I wait until now to upload it? Read on and see.

Originally an ordinary iron great sword crafted by the hands of humanity long before recorded history, the sword was bathed in human blood countless times throughout history and came to develop a soul of its own. This sword became known as Soul Edge and was viewed by many as the ultimate weapon, among other rumors as a panacea for all illnesses and such. However, the true nature of the sword was undeniably evil. It was a living sword that devoured the souls of whoever perished upon its blade.

The first person to actually claim Soul Edge for himself was the illustrious Hero King, Algol. Due to his immense willpower, he was immune to Soul Edge's malice and could not be controlled. However, Soul Edge eventually ended up in the hands of Algol's son, Arcturus. Unlike his father, Arcturus' will was not as unbendable and he became the first host of Soul Edge. Algol arrived just in time to see his son possessed by the evil sword and was forced to defend himself as Soul Edge tried to slay him. Algol shattered Soul Edge with his bare hands, but it was too late. Arcturus' soul was devoured, reducing him to a lifeless body without a will. Overcome with remorse and a desire to prevent such a fate from befalling anyone ever again, Algol took a large fragment of the shattered Soul Edge in hand and, with a mystical art, sacrificed his life to purify the fragment of evil and transforming it into an entirely different being. The spirit sword, Soul Calibur.

Over the eons, those seeking Soul Edge gathered the many fragments of Soul Edge in the hopes that they would lead them to the cursed sword itself. And time and time again, the fragments would fuse together and take on different forms, even becoming the evil sword once again once enough had been gathered. However, the fate of those who gripped the hilt of Soul Edge remained the same. All who took Soul Edge into their hands became a horrific being known throughout time as the Azure Knight, the host body controlled by Soul Edge that unleashed countless massacres to gather strength by devouring the souls of whoever fell before it. The Azure Knight was named due to the azure-colored armor that Soul Edge would often clad its host with and a grotesque right or left arm, depending on the host's dominant hand, that was mutated as a result of Soul Edge's malfestation. Despite its massive power, Soul Edge was shattered time and again by those who wished to stop it, usually with the spirit sword itself. With each failure, Soul Edge's power was greatly weakened, but the souls it had devoured would not be released. These failures did nothing to steer Soul Edge from its desires as it claimed countless more hosts who sought it for themselves, repeating the cycle of death.

One of Soul Edge's final hosts was a young knight named Siegfried Schtauffen. Having murdered his own father and convinced himself that it was the work of someone else, Siegfried sought the evil blade as a means to avenge his father's death as he believed his father's murderer could only be slayed by such a weapon. He ultimately located the cursed sword and defeated its current host, a pirate named Cervantes de Leon, and even managed to defeat the embodiment of Soul Edge's spirit known as Inferno after the host's demise, but at the cost of his sword. Having earned the right to wield Soul Edge himself, Siegfried took the sword in hand. But shortly afterwards, he was forced to cross swords again with the reanimated body of Cervantes who, even in death, would not allow Soul Edge to be taken from him. Siegfried easily vanquished the undead pirate, who gave a last cryptic warning before collapsing. It was at that point that Soul Edge attempted to claim Siegfried's body for itself, unleashing the Evil Seed in the process. While Siegfried was able to resist the possession attempt at first, he ultimately succumbed to Soul Edge's demonic will several months later, becoming the dreaded Azure Knight, unleashing massacres across the land as Soul Edge devoured the victim's souls for more power.

Siegfried remained a host to Soul Edge for six years, except for a breif escape when he tried to atone for his sins. But he was ultimately claimed by Soul Edge for good. It was during a duel with the fencer Raphael Sorel at the cursed city of Ostrheinsburg that Soul Edge was dealt an unexpected setback. Having wounded Raphael to the point of no longer being able to fight, Soul Edge proceeded to deal the final blow. But at that moment, a flicker of Siegfried's will returned to the Azure Knight's mind, struggling against the evil sword and leaving the host body paralyzed. Taking advantage of Soul Edge's hesitation, Raphael dealt a final desperate strike with his sword, piercing the fleshy mass of Soul Edge's blade and breaking off the tip of his sword while still impaled in it. The Azure Knight let out a horrific shriek and, with a will of iron, Siegfried became the first host of Soul Edge to ever break free from the evil sword's clutches. He cast aside the cursed sword and reflexively grabbed the spirit sword by the hilt, which had appeared from nowhere as if summoned by an unseen force. Upon being taken into his hands, Soul Calibur took on the form of a great sword that Siegfried was familiar with using. He then plunged the spirit sword into the frightened eye of Soul Edge, temporarily sealing its power. Afterwards, Siegfried smashed his hideous azure armor to pieces and set out with Soul Edge and Soul Calibur, which had become strangely fused together in a bizarre state known as the "Soul Embrace". However, upon being impaled by the spirit sword, Soul Edge's will escaped into the azure armor to prevent its will from being sealed. But with only the fragments of armor as a shell, it could not even move on its own.

Not long after Soul Edge's latest failure, a mysterious immortal holding a silver war scythe appeared and exchanged a wordless conversation with the cursed sword. He soon agreed to aid Soul Edge and, with an arcane incantation, forged a fearsome body from the hateful souls that lingered throughout Ostrheinsburg while restoring the shattered azure armor. With a new and powerful body in its possession, Soul Edge formed a bizarre sword in its left hand, created from its memories of its last appearance. While not quite as powerful as its original shell, this new cursed "phantom" sword was still more than capable of suiting Soul Edge's needs. Its new body, while far more powerful than any human host, was unstable and was in danger of collapsing at any time. Soul Edge, now able to roam the world without a host, set off in search of Siegfried and its original shell while unleashing many more slaughters upon the towns and villiges it came across, devouring more souls to restore its strength.

It was only at a "lost cathedral" that Soul Edge finally caught up with its former host. Wielding the legendary reforged sword Gram, now named "Requiem", Siegfried engaged in one final duel against the monster he had once been a part of. As the two warriors clashed, the energies of Soul Edge and Soul Calibur surged from the Soul Embrace and filled the area, causing great instability in both time and space within the cathedral. In the end, the two combatants were swallowed up by the rift that had formed, along with their respective swords. Siegfried's body was ravaged by the maelstrom of power and was left on the brink of death with Soul Calibur in his hands. The holy sword resonated with Siegfried's soul, a soul that sought redemption for his misguided acts of evil. With their fates pointing towards the same goal, the spirit sword spared Siegfried's life and healed him. Soul Edge's temporary body could no longer sustain itself and was obliterated, leaving only the cursed sword itself and the suit of azure armor. The two fell out of the void right above the throne at the center of the castle of Ostrheinsburg. Desperate for more power and to eliminate its "inferior" counterpart, Soul Edge called back the countless fragments of itself that had been scattered across the globe during the Evil Seed, making itself whole again. The evil blade then drew in and devoured the evil souls that lingered in the air, giving new form to its armor. The azure armor became twisted and demonic in form with a hellish void holding the upper and lower halves of the body together, effectively making the azure armor itself the host body of Soul Edge. Now more powerful than ever before, the evil sword prepared for its final duel with the spirit sword, the rivalry between them about to come to an end.

However, it was not by the hands of Siegfried and Soul Calibur that Soul Edge met its defeat. The princess of Wolfkrone, a kingdom that had been at odds with Soul Edge's cursed city of Ostrheinsburg since the Evil Seed, met Soul Edge atop the Tower of Remembrance and, despite its overwhelming evil power, succeeded in slaying the Azure Kinght and shattered Soul Edge with a thrust from her lance. At that moment, Siegfried arrived just in time to witness the final blow. It was then that Siegfried confessed to his actions that led to the Evil Seed being unleashed, requested that he be executed for his crimes, and was pardoned by Hildegard Von Krone for his absolute desire to atone for his sins. With Siegfried's past crimes having been forgiven and the threat of Soul Edge ended, Siegfried vanished from history, most likely living his life out in simplicity.

But while shattered and weakened, Soul Edge was by no means eliminated. Its azure armor and shattered form sat atop the Tower of Remembrance for nearly 80 years, the hands of treasure hunters and the four winds removing various fragments from the tower over the flow of history. One day, the very same immortal that had given rise to Soul Edge many years before returned to the tower and, using the same lost art as before, forged yet another body for Soul Edge and reforming the cursed sword from whatever fragments that remained atop the tower, all without saying a word. Once the Azure Knight was once again standing with the evil sword in its hand, the immortal spoke a cryptic last statement before vanishing, recommending that Soul Edge journey to the "Kingdom of Rohta" in a distant land in search of more souls. Knowing that it had never visited the land before, Soul Edge set off in search of the untouched kingdom, knowing that the souls of many waited to be reaped.

As the immortal planned, Soul Edge wasted no time in making its presence known by attacking and slaughtering many people. As the evil sword made its way to the border of Rohta and the neighbering Kingdom of Clavice, the Knighthood of Rohta closed in from the east while the mighty military forces of Clavice sealed off all escape routes from the west. Between the two mighty armies, Soul Edge fought like a beast, sending dozens, if not hundreds, of brave warriors to their graves. Even so, the massive number of enemies combined with their great skills in combat slowly chiseled away at Soul Edge's body and, after a battle that raged into the night and long into the next day, the Azure Knight finally fell. But rather than handle the cursed sword foolishly, the two nations had become painfully aware of Soul Edge's power and evil nature. Being careful to make certain that it was never held by human hands again, the two nations sent the sword in secret to the island nations of the Far East in the hopes that the people trained in mystical arts may find a way to dismantle and destroy Soul Edge once and for all.

Nearly a century after arriving in the Far East, Soul Edge was stolen by a herectical cult that had intended to revive Soul Edge, possibly as a means to establish some form of tyranny over the world with the Azure Knight as an ally. The leader of the cult, calling himself the 'High Priest', crafted a new body for Soul Edge using a forbidden art that was identical to the form crafted for him decades earlier by the immortal with a scythe. The High Priest promised a sacrifice for Soul Edge with a soul that would surely be of a high enough caliber to satiate it, namely the soul of the vile Yamata no Orochi. During the wait, Soul Edge returned to Rohta to discreetly harvest more souls, being careful to not make its presence known just yet. But during the voyage back to Rohta in the cargo holds of a merchant vessel, Soul Edge contemplated why it had failed hundreds of times over the course of history in gathering enough souls to reach its true potential. It was then that it discovered that the souls of the living decrease in quality as they suffer trauma. This greatly decreased the amount of power it acquired after devouring the souls of those it butchered time and again. Realizing that its own sadistic urges were the cause of its many failures, Soul Edge set out to develop a means to extract the souls of the living from their bodies without killing the host. And in time, it succeeded. Having developed a means to forcefully extract the souls of the living without having to kill the host body, Soul Edge tested the new method on a wounded knight in a forest to the east of Celestica. After having devoured his soul, Soul Edge proceeded to kill the knight. But while the sight of blood on its blade pleased it, Soul Edge was disappointed by the lack of agony in its victim. Without a soul, the victim was nothing more than a living rag doll that could not even feel pain, resulting in no satisfaction for Soul Edge. It was some time afterwards that Soul Edge detected the Yamata no Orochi's unrivaled soul in the Far East and made its way to the nearest harbor to sneak aboard a ship that was heading to the Far East. But before it could even board, the evil sword felt the soul of the evil serpent vanish without a trace. Frustrated, Soul Edge decided to compensate for this setback by summoning back all of the fragments of itself that had scattered to the four winds since its defeat atop the Tower of Remembrance, resulting in its form becoming whole again, including its hulking armored host body. What was more, it felt that someone with a soul that had been blessed and enhanced by the phoenix, Ho-Oh, had held one of its fragments before it could return to Soul Edge. The evil sword then made a plan to draw out this "Angel of the Eternal Flame" once he returned home to Rohta.

A few months after becoming whole once again, Soul Edge put its master plan into action by attacking and devouring the souls of every single living creature within the city of Verdant, with the sole exception of a local baker, who Soul Edge spared so he could inform the warrior he sought of its existence. Soul Edge then wandered into the Dead Forest, where it had met its defeat at the hands of the two nations decades before, and waited. Around twelve days later, Soul Edge's patience was rewarded when the knight it sought arrived in the Dead Forest to fight it. A knight named Ashton Redford Crimson. It was then that Soul Edge revealed its true intentions and why it desired Ashton's soul over all other souls. It was also then that it revealed a tidbit of dark lore that very few aside from itself even knew about. Soul Edge's true ultimate state that could only be attained by becoming complete and drowning itself in souls. Determined to bring Soul Edge's dark desires to an end, Ashton dueled the Azure Knight in the Dead Forest. It seemed to be a stalemate until the Azure Knight turned its back on him for just a second, allowing Ashton to deal the final blow with an upward swing of his sword, cleanly severing the Azure Knight's massive right arm from its body. After flailing about in agony, the Azure Knight fell and Soul Edge's eye closed, suppossedly for the last time. However, this was not enough to finish the Sword of Ruin and, after a moment of recovering from the strike, the Azure Knight threw the evil sword at Ashton directly, impaling him through the chest. While impaled upon its prey, Soul Edge began to siphon Ashton's soul from his living body. However, it only needed a mere fraction of his Eternal Flame-blessed soul and stopped once it had enough. The host body then retrieved Soul Edge before exclaiming its gratitude for Ashton's power. Seconds later, the Azure Knight and the Sword of Ruin underwent a frightening transformation as Soul Edge attained its ultimate power, becoming a terrifying monster known only in dark prophecy as "Night Terror".

Having become a beast that only sought to destroy everything around it, Night Terror proceeded to finsih Ashton off. But before it could deal the mortal strike, Soul Calibur emerged from the gash in Ashton's chest as it healed his wounds and restored his armor while repelling Night Terror. Having caught his second wind, Ashton took Soul Calibur in hand and proceeded to fight Night Terror in a life-or-death duel to decide the fate of the world. Despite having Soul Calibur in his possession, almost nothing that Ashton threw at Night Terror even seemed to faze it as this perfect form Soul Edge had finally acquired seemed to be the ultimate Doomsday scenerio. Eventually, it came down to a pure power struggle between the two combatants as the two soul swords struggled to triumph over each other. But when it seemed that Soul Edge had finally surpassed its blood enemy, Ashton unknowingly tapped into his massive Aura to give him the edge he needed to win. With Ashton's Aura backing it, Soul Calibur burrowed right through and obliterated Soul Edge and delivered a fatal wound on Night Terror itself.

Tragically, Soul Edge's bloodstained ties to the realm of the living would not be severed so easily. In an act of pure spite, Soul Edge transferred a faint glimmer of its soul and as much of its power as possible into one of Ashton's unborn children at the edge of the Dead Forest just seconds before Soul Calibur's holy energy destroyed Night Terror once and for all. With Soul Edge's physical form forever gone, the countless souls that had been devoured since long ago were finally released, including those of Soul Edge's still-living victims from Verdant.

Soul Edge's original goal prior to its defeat was for Ashton's son, Atlas, to draw out the power of the Eternal Flame to its fullest. Only then would Soul Edge's dormant soul awaken and take control of its host like countless times before. Fortunately, this never happened as Atlas never needed to draw out the Eternal Flame at 100%. In the end, Ashton died of old age at the age of 115. However, Soul Edge was passed down from Atlas to his daughter. This cycle continued for 500 years after Ashton's death until Soul Edge ended up in the soul of one of Atlas' descendants. A mostly human boy named Ash Ketchum. At the age of twelve, Ash awakened the power of the Eternal Flame for the first time. But for reasons unknown, Soul Edge's dreams and constant malicious thoughts while dormant infected Ash's mind, causing him to become abnormally bloodthirsty, even for someone with Zangoose blood in their veins. Afterwards, Soul Edge's dreams began to slip into Ash's mind. The constant sleeptalking from Soul Edge began to drive Ash mad with grief as if it was scolding him for his actions against his enemies, which he only barely remembered. After he hunted down and slaughtered the infamous Pokemon Hunter J, Ash was overwhelmed by Soul Edge's dormant malice and attacked his own friends and family to "see more blood". Ashton, who had been revived by the Eternal Flame several months back, was able to hold Ash off without using fatal force alongside Ash's new Blaziken companion, Kazeerah. But once Ash was perfectly restrained by being buried up to his neck in the ground, he managed to draw out the Eternal Flame to its fullest, unknowingly awakening Soul Edge in the process. Having become active, Soul Edge took control of the Devil of the Eternal Flame, who would prove to be his most powerful host yet. After explaining how it had escaped oblivion 600 years before, Soul Edge revealed that its demonic power was slowly killing Ash, forcing Ashton to fight against the clock as well as his old enemy.

In a battle between two hosts of the Eternal Flame, Soul Edge proved that it was far beyond Ashton's level while in possession of Ash's body and powers. But after inflicting a mortal wound on Ashton and narrowly surviving a purifying strike from Soul Calibur, Soul Edge was held at bay by Ash's own will, much like how Siegfried Schtauffen had managed to break free from Soul Edge's clutches centuries before. Taking advantage of Ash's last-minute resistance, Ashton dealt one final purifying strike, forever destroying Soul Edge and saving Ash's life before the rate of decay became irriversible, just before succumbing to his injuries and dying on the battlefield, only to be revived minutes later by the Eternal Flame within his soul.

Soul Edge was a truly frightening force, able to corrupt and possess all but the most iron-willed warriors and turning them into its host body. While it may have seemed that it was the body known as the Azure Knight that was in control, everything the body did and said was really coming from the evil sword it held. Soul Edge was also a shapeshifter that changed form depending on the skills and style of its host. However, its base form was that of a large two-handed sword. In its weaker states, Soul Edge displayed both organic and metallic properties. But after becoming complete by fusing all of its fragments together, Soul Edge's form was that of a sharp and sleek great sword that seemed to be made of a dark red crystal. Soul Edge's most constant characteristic was a single eye on both sides of the blade, which probably granted improved vision of the situation, making surprise attacks extremely difficult. Soul Edge was also notoriously difficult to destroy. Only a purifying strike from Soul Calibur or being destroyed while in its infamous 'Night Terror' form could completely eradicate it. At maximum power, Soul Edge's might even surpasses that of Soul Calibur, making it a most fiendish demon indeed.

Despite being thoroughly exorcised from Ash, a tiny flicker of Soul Edge's evil soul was somehow salvaged by an unnamed man in a distant land who was most likely aware of Soul Edge's presence since shortly after Ash Ketchum's birth. Soul Edge's soul now lies inside a containment field of sorts while slowly being incubated and strengthened over time, waiting for the right time to awaken once again.....
