As with most Lucario, Sapphire was only able to evolve after having developed a strong bond with someone. In her case, it was her father. During the grueling battle between Ashton and her father after the evil Soul Edge had taken control of Ash, Sapphire's fear overwhelmed her and she became desperate to save him, triggering her evolution.

Compared to her brother, Lucash, Sapphire's human traits are much more pronounced. Her legs are not nearly as reverse-jointed as a pure-blooded Lucario, her hands end with five slender fingers, and her torso is more like that of a human woman. Like her mother, she lacks the three spikes on her hands and chest. But instead of having four black dreadlocks, she has long shimmering black hair.

Upon evolving, Sapphire's layer of fur on her upper legs and torso separated from her body, creating a pair of shorts and a vest. But due to having never worn clothes before, she was initially uncomfortable with them and casually removed them, leading to an embarrassing situation for her family out in public.

Despite being just under a year old, Sapphire's new form seems to be comparable to that of a young woman in her mid-to-late teens, most likely due to the fact that most Pokémon mature more quickly than humans. While being very beautiful, her combat abilities are largely unknown, but she has been seen still being quite adept with the mighty Focus Punch.
